  • "I used to be horrible at typing. I had to look at the keyboard and I used at most 4-5 fingers at a time. In my line of work, such lack of typing skills really gets in the way. One day I decided that it was enough and that I had to learn touch typing. When I was a teacher in Sweden, I had seen one of my students use a very interesting looking keyboard during exercise sessions for a course that I assisted. I started talking with him and I found out that he was a Dvorak enthusiast who maintained a very interesting website about typing using a Swedish version of the Dvorak layout. I went on and read about TypeMatrix on his website: http://aoeu.info/s/keyboard/typematrix. I thought, this is my chance to learn to touch type. I got a Dvorak version of TypeMatrix and I have never looked back.
     
    I love the 2030 keyboard, how the keys are aligned vertically, how there is a Shift key under the left thumb, and the Backspace and Enter in the middle. Whenever I have to use another keyboard I just wish that I had my 2030 with me. Also, you get what you pay for. Recently, my keyboard got damaged during a move, but the nice folks at TypeMatrix sent me the pieces I needed free of charge.

    I do not usually write testimonials, but this time I feel that I absolutely owe it to you, so go head and use this letter as you see fit.
     
    A year or two into my career, I started to suffer from typing pains. I have fragile finger-joints and they hurt badly from the repetitive motion of hitting keyboard keys. I tried many different keyboards (including one for $299), but none helped, long-term.
     
    I then chanced upon the TypeMatrix. At first I didn't give it much thought. True, the reach looked impressive, but I was still worried about the impact from hitting the keys, even though they are much flatter than a regular keyboard. Then, I found out that the TypeMatrix comes with an optional keyboard-skin. With the help of your customer service, we struck on this great idea of using the TypeMatrix with two skins - one on top of the other - to soften the key-touch. Almost a year later, I am still using your keyboard with two skins, held at the edges by a little carpet-tape to keep it snugly wrapped to the keyboard, and it has a nice bouncy, rubbery feel to it.
     
    This setup has literally saved my computer life. This would not have happened without your well-thought-out product, and your empathetic and sincere customer service. I also love the keyboard because it has such a small footprint on my desktop, and leaves me plenty of room. In fact, I sometimes just put the light-weight TypeMatrix on my knees, and lean back while I type. You should see me right now ;-)
     
    By the way, several coffee spills later, my keyboard works without a hitch, and, one more caveat, I learned to type DVORAK, so I use your keyboard in "Dvorak mode" (with matching skins).

  • "I have a TypeMatrix 2020 and have been using it for over a year. I love it. It is the third keyboard that I've used in order to solve my particular ergonomic needs. It doesn't force me to reach past a keypad that I'm not using in order to reach my trackball and wacom pad. For me, it has a better way of separating the keys than the standard "ergo" keyboards. I also like that the keys are large and that there's no built-in tilt! I like the action of the keys and that they don't clatter a lot. It's definitely my favourite keyboard to date."

  • "I just thought I would share my experience with the 2030. I've been using it for about 3 weeks now and have definitely noticed a significant improvement in comfort and a reduction in pain. For the first week, I had some pain in my wrists but that was more an issue with the height of my desk - an adjustable keyboard tray easily solved that problem. Basically, I am quite pleased with my purchase. My employer has even agreed to buy another one so I don't have to bring my own keyboard into the office.
     
    Since I only ever use Linux (or some flavour of Unix), I make a lot of use of the "modifier" keys - particularly Control. I have found that the position of the Control key on the 2030 is not ideal for frequent use. So, I remapped the Start/Cut key to Control.   • "I have been using the TypeMatrix 2030 for over seven months now, and the 2030 is now the _only_ keyboard I use. I have two, and use one at work in Windows XP and the other with my iMac at home. When I use a 'normal' keyboard, it feels (and looks) like some kind of kids' toy, with huge, goofy buttons. I recommend the TypeMatrix 2030 all the time. The non-staggered layout alone makes it indispensable.
     
    One more thing. I've now been using the skin at work all day, and I love it! It's very comfortable to type on. So much so that I'm actually conscious of how soft the keys feel as I type. I was really expecting it to feel like an added layer of padding isolating me from the sensitivity of touch-typing, but that hasn't been an issue at all."

  • "I purchased a TypeMatrix 2020 DQ back in June of 2005 and use it exclusively in Dvorak mode. I am 6 feet tall with large hands and find the TypeMatrix is ideal for me even though it is much smaller than typical 'ergonomic' keyboards. The grid pattern is much more friendly for large hands. I used to experience pains in my fingers and arms that have been totally eliminated since switching to this board. Since switching to the 2020 and using the wonderful Dvorak tutuorial provided by TypeMatrix, I have increased my typing speed and accuracy. My Dad is 6 feet 4 and had to undergo surgery to address the carpal tunnel syndrome he developed over 25 years while using a standard keyboard.   • "I purchased a TypeMatrix 2020 about 18 months ago. First impression: Finally, the keys are where they are supposed to be! After 18 months: No more wrist pain and 12% increase in typing speed. Overall: I unconditionally recommend Dvorak with a TypeMatrix keyboard to anyone who is serious about reducing stress on their hands. All my life I've struggled with the offset keys of the "normal" keyboards, and the Microsoft "Ergonomic" version just made things worse. The TypeMatrix 2020, with it's wide offset, was an easy transition from the Microsoft ergonomic keyboard, and the keys were finally arranged sensibly - in straight rows. I started a medical transciption course and the pain was terrific. In my mind it went, why isn't there a keyboard like the number pad - vertical and horizontal? On my ergonomic search: behold the TypeMatrix! I started my transcription course in January 2004 and I decided to learn Dvorak. There's quite a learning curve, but well worth the effort.   • "A brief battle report: I tried to get my kids, nephews, etc. interested in Dvorak -- no luck -- they are all such reactionaries! Then I started using the TypeMatrix boards at home -- more groans. So I put the old keyboard and the TMx both on the PC desk. All they had to do was to mechanically switch to their favorite. It just made more sense than the standard ergonomic layout that I had been using. I also liked the size for its portability. Even though I switched to Dvorak, the computer repair requires me to use a Qwerty keyboard about as much as I use Dvorak. I taught myself to type dvorak a couple years ago and it's been a big improvement, especially regarding hand/wrist strain. I finally decided about a month or two ago that I deserved a true dvorak keyboard as well, so I could have the correct letters displayed when I have to peek. I decided to go with the TypeMatrix dvorak (switchable to QWERTY) board for reasons listed on their site. I didn't really see how a small flat keyboard could be more comfortable than those large, contoured things, but, once I got used to it, I loved it. Didn't know how much until I had a problem and wrote the company an email tonight:
